In a joint venture, Hutcheson Medical Center and Diagnostic Radiology Consultants formed the first all digital imaging center in the area and the first High Field Open MRI. Under the medical direction of John Nelson, MD, Battlefield Imaging boasts of offering world class imaging through its many services:

• High Field 1.5 Open MRI
  Battlefield Imaging is home to one of the world's first open 1.5 T magnetic resonance imaging systems, used for detection, diagnosis and treatment planning of cancer. By providing the greatest patient comfort and advanced imaging capabilities, the new Espree MRI scanner offers patients the best of both worlds.
• Digital Mammography
  Battlefield Imaging is one of the first centers to unveil the latest technology of digital mammography, which converts x-rays directly to incredibly detailed grayscale images. Patients describe much less discomfort, and the radiation dose associated with each digital mammogram is reduced by as much as 40 percent compared to standard high contrast film-based mammograms. This new technology accommodates virtually all breast sizes.
• PET Positron Emission Tomography/CT Computed Tomography
  Hutcheson uses one of the most advanced pieces of imaging technology available to ensure our patients receive the best treatment possible. The combination PET scanner/CT scanner has revolutionized the detection and evaluation of cancer by tracking the metabolic activity in cells which helps oncologists better direct the patients' treatment. • Comprehensive Breast Center
  In Spring 2006 Hutcheson Medical Center opened the Battlefield Auxiliary Breast Center at Hutcheson on the Parkway. This is the first and only comprehensive breast care center within the Chattanooga area to offer a unique physician team based approach to breast care.

In addition to the full range of routine CT examinations, Battlefield Imaging offers high resolution CT angiography, virtual colonscopy and 3D image reconstruction.
